Electric Vehicles
An electric vehicle (EV) is a vehicle that is propelled (partly or entirely) by batteries rather than an internal combustion engine (ICE). There are three main types of electric vehicle: battery electric vehicles (BEVs) are fully electric vehicles; plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) are powered by both an ICE and an en electric motor; hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) are powered by an ICE and an electric motor, but the battery is recharged by regenerative breaking rather than plug-in to an electriciy socket. Electric vehicles represent a major threat to the global automotive industry and are also vital if countries are to meet targets for reducing carbon pollution.
